# How to see a driver's full day on the map

The Day tab shows one driver's whole day: the route on a map and a timeline of trips and stops, each stop labeled with what it was.

## Before you start

- Open "Drivers" in the sidebar, click a driver, then the "GPS Tracking" tab.
- The driver must use the Dumpster Controls driver app with location allowed; that is where the GPS comes from.

1. ## Pick the date
Use the date field or the arrow buttons at the top. Today opens by default. The chips beside the date show miles, driving hours, worked hours, stops, and tasks for that day.
2. ## Read the map
Every trip is drawn along the roads it took, as a blue line with a white outline and arrows showing the direction, the way vehicle trackers show it. An "A" pin marks the first departure and a "B" pin the last stop. Numbered dots are stops: blue for a customer, brown for a landfill, gray for headquarters, and orange with "!" for an unplanned stop of 10 minutes or more. A dashed gray segment means the phone lost signal there. The zoom and full screen buttons are always free to use: the replay bar sits below the map.
3. ## Use the timeline
The right panel lists trips and stops in order. Each stop shows what it was and where: the task type with the order number (for example "Delivery" and "Order #1261") and the delivery address, or the street address of the spot when no job matches. The stop before the first trip reads "Start of day" and the one after the last trip reads "End of day", with no alarm. Click any row to highlight it on the map, or click a map pin to scroll the timeline to it.
4. ## Show short trips and stops if you need them
Yard moves shorter than 5 minutes and 1 mile, and stops under 3 minutes with no job linked, are hidden to keep the list clean. Flip "Show short trips and stops", or click the line that counts the hidden stops, to see everything.

## What happens next

- A day that has not consolidated yet shows "Partial, consolidates overnight"; final numbers settle during the night.
- You can also open a day from the dashboard map: click a truck on "Active Locations" and press "View day".

## Troubleshooting

### The tab says "No GPS activity on this day".

The driver app records location during the work day. Check that the driver's phone has location permission set to "Always" and that the app was signed in. Companies that use the driver check-in only record while a shift is open.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is Dumpster Controls really free?

Yes. The software is free: dispatch, online booking, the driver app, invoicing, the Tresha AI assistant and every other feature, with no monthly fee, no trial period and no credit card to sign up. The only cost on the free plan is optional card processing when a customer pays by card through the platform: 2.99% plus $3.99 per transaction on the free plan. An optional Unlimited plan at $169 per month lowers that to 2.99% plus $0.30. Prices as published on dumpstercontrols.io/pricing on 2026-09-23.

### Do you charge per driver, per truck or per order?

No. There is no per-driver, per-truck, per-user or per-order fee, and no order limit. A company with one truck and a company with twenty pay the same for the software: nothing.

### Is there a contract?

No. There is no contract, no minimum term and no setup fee. You create the account yourself, and on the free plan there is nothing to cancel because nothing is billed. The optional Unlimited plan is billed month to month.

### Which countries and languages are supported?

Dumpster Controls serves hauling companies in the United States and Canada. The app interface and the Tresha AI assistant are available in English, Spanish and Portuguese. The public pages, such as the blog, the help center and the landfill finder, are in English.

### How do I switch from another dumpster software?

Create a free account at dumpstercontrols.io/login, with no sales call and no credit card. Then import your customers from a CSV file using the template provided in the app; past orders can also be imported from a CSV. Container sizes and pricing are set up in Settings. The landfill database, with 1,750 active US and Canadian landfills as counted on 2026-10-01, is already loaded, so disposal sites do not need to be typed in. Step-by-step guides are at dumpstercontrols.io/help.
