# How to repeat a previous order in Dumpster Controls

When a customer orders the same dumpster again, you do not need to fill the form from scratch. "Repeat order" opens Create New Order already filled with the size, price, tax rate, fuel surcharge, included weight, delivery address, map pin, driver instructions, instruction photo and PO number of an earlier order. You only pick the new dates, review, and create.

## Before you start

- An earlier delivery order for the customer.
- The customer is active (not archived or deleted).
- Dumpster rental is turned on for your company, so the "Delivery Order" card is available.

1. ## Start from Order History
Open "Order History" in the sidebar. On every delivery order that can be repeated there is a small "Repeat order" button on the right of the row, stacked above the cancel button ("Cancel", or "Cancel & Refund" when canceling returns money). On a phone it sits under the order card, above the danger zone. When you expand an order, the same button is also in the invoice bar, next to "Review request". Ctrl+click (Cmd+click on a Mac) opens it in a new tab.
2. ## Or start from Create New Order
Click "Create New Order", keep "Delivery Order" selected and pick the customer. Under the customer, the "Repeat a previous order" box lists their three latest orders with order number, size, address, price and date. The same address and size never appear twice. Click "Repeat" on the one you want. A canceled order shows a "Canceled" tag and can still be repeated.
3. ## Check what was filled
A green line reads "Filled from #1222. Set the dates." The copied fields flash for a moment, and Amount, Tax (%), Fuel Surcharge (FSC) and Included Weight show a small "from #1222" caption. Quantity starts at 1. Every field stays editable, exactly like a new order.
4. ## Set the dates
The cursor goes straight to "Delivery Date", which always starts empty. When you pick it, "Pickup Date" is filled with the same rental length as the old order, and "Due Date" with the same number of days after delivery (never a date in the past). If you change Pickup Date or Due Date yourself, they stop following the delivery date.
5. ## Read the notes, if there are any
Yellow notes under the green line tell you when something from the old order is different today: "Price from #1222. Current list price for 20 Yard: $695.00.", a tax rate or fuel surcharge that is not the size default, a discount that was not applied, an order that was booked online, or an order that was one of several dumpsters on the same invoice. Update the fields if needed.
6. ## Create the order
Click "Create Delivery Order". The invoice preview, payment method, confirmation email, invoice email and SMS work exactly as they do for any new order. Nothing is saved until you confirm.

## What happens next

- The new order is a normal order with its own number, invoice and driver tasks. The old order is not changed.
- The instruction photo of the old order is attached to the new one, so the driver sees it. Uploading a new photo replaces it.
- Orders created from now on also keep their included weight and tax rate, so the next repeat copies them exactly.

## Troubleshooting

### I do not see the "Repeat order" button.

It only shows on delivery orders. Junk removal, scrap metal, invoice only, swap, Dumpster HUB and demo orders cannot be repeated. If you just opened Order History after an update, refresh the page once so the list loads its latest data.

### The price is not the price of the size.

Repeat copies the price of the old order on purpose, so a customer with a special price keeps it. When today's list price for that size is different, a note shows the current price so you can change Amount before creating the order.

### The tax total is a little lower than on the old order.

Orders booked online are taxed on the base price plus the fuel surcharge. On Create New Order tax applies to the base price only, so the same tax rate gives a slightly lower total. A note tells you when the old order was booked online.

### A discount from the old order is missing.

Discounts made with "Adjust price" are not repeated, because they belong to that invoice. A note shows the old discount. Apply it again from Order History after creating the order if needed.

### The map pin and the photo disappeared.

If you change the street or the ZIP code after repeating, the copied pin and photo are removed, because they belonged to the old address. Set the placement on the map again for the new address.

### The old order had several dumpsters.

Repeat always starts with quantity 1, so repeating each line of a multi-dumpster invoice does not multiply the order. A note says how many dumpsters were on the same invoice and offers "Use qty 3" to repeat the whole batch in one click.

### The size is empty after repeating.

The size used in the old order was removed from your inventory. The size and the price are left empty and a note asks you to pick a size.

### It says the customer is archived or deleted.

Restore the customer in Customers, then click "Repeat order" again.

### How does it work for commercial accounts?

For customers billed on a commercial account, Repeat uses the account's job site and negotiated rate sheet, never the old order's price. It fills the job site, size, driver instructions and PO number, and the price comes from the rate sheet.

### How do I start over?

Click "Clear" on the green line. Price, tax, fuel surcharge and weight go back to the size defaults, the address goes back to the customer's saved address, and the copied instructions, PO, photo, pin and dates are cleared. Changing the customer clears them too.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is Dumpster Controls really free?

Yes. The software is free: dispatch, online booking, the driver app, invoicing, the Tresha AI assistant and every other feature, with no monthly fee, no trial period and no credit card to sign up. The only cost on the free plan is optional card processing when a customer pays by card through the platform: 2.99% plus $3.99 per transaction on the free plan. An optional Unlimited plan at $169 per month lowers that to 2.99% plus $0.30. Prices as published on dumpstercontrols.io/pricing on 2026-09-23.

### Do you charge per driver, per truck or per order?

No. There is no per-driver, per-truck, per-user or per-order fee, and no order limit. A company with one truck and a company with twenty pay the same for the software: nothing.

### Is there a contract?

No. There is no contract, no minimum term and no setup fee. You create the account yourself, and on the free plan there is nothing to cancel because nothing is billed. The optional Unlimited plan is billed month to month.

### Which countries and languages are supported?

Dumpster Controls serves hauling companies in the United States and Canada. The app interface and the Tresha AI assistant are available in English, Spanish and Portuguese. The public pages, such as the blog, the help center and the landfill finder, are in English.

### How do I switch from another dumpster software?

Create a free account at dumpstercontrols.io/login, with no sales call and no credit card. Then import your customers from a CSV file using the template provided in the app; past orders can also be imported from a CSV. Container sizes and pricing are set up in Settings. The landfill database, with 1,750 active US and Canadian landfills as counted on 2026-10-01, is already loaded, so disposal sites do not need to be typed in.
