How to create promo codes for online booking in Dumpster Controls

Promo codes give customers a percentage or fixed-dollar discount at checkout on your booking page.

Before you start

• Access to the Booking Page section

1. Open the Promo Codes tab

   In "Booking Page", select "Promo Codes". The "Create Promo Code" card reads "Offer discounts to attract customers."

2. Define the code

   Enter a "Code" (for example SUMMER25; it is stored uppercase). Pick the "Discount Type": "% Percentage" or "$ Fixed Amount", then fill "Discount %" or "Discount Amount ($)".

3. Add optional limits

   Set "Expiration (optional)" and "Usage Limit (optional)". Leave them empty for a code that never expires with unlimited uses.

4. Create and manage

   Click "Create Code". The "Active Codes" table lists each code with its Discount, Expiration, and Status columns, plus a toggle to activate or deactivate and a delete button. The tooltip notes: "Codes are applied at checkout on your booking page."

What happens next

• At checkout, customers enter the code under "Promo Code (optional)" and click "Apply". A valid code shows "Promo applied!" with the discount; the Order Summary adds a Promo line with the amount off.
• You can pre-apply a code in the embedded widget with the data-promo attribute, or via a promo URL parameter on the booking link.

Troubleshooting

The customer sees "Invalid or inactive promo code."

The code does not exist, is toggled off, or its usage limit has been reached. Check the "Active Codes" table.

The customer sees "This promo code has expired."

The expiration date has passed. Create a new code or clear the expiration.
