The customer order portal: tracking, early pickup and paid extensions

Every order has a no-login customer portal at a secure link, usually delivered by text message. Your customer tracks the order and can request an earlier pickup or a paid rental extension, and you approve with one click. It is how extra rental days become revenue instead of arguments.

   How the customer gets there

   The portal lives at a secure tracking link unique to the order (the internal order id is never exposed). It reaches the customer by text message, and you can also copy the link from the order and send it any way you like. No account, no password: it opens straight to their order.

   What the customer sees

   Live order status with a visual step tracker, delivery and pickup dates, the service address, and the full order timeline. It answers the number one phone call (when are you coming?) before it happens.

   Request an earlier pickup

   If they finish early, the customer picks a new date in two taps. The request is created as pending and changes NOTHING by itself; you approve it in the app and only then the pickup date moves. Every date rule is re-checked on the server.

   Request a paid rental extension

   If they need the dumpster longer, the portal quotes your per-day extension price instantly and the customer chooses how many extra days. Again: pending until you approve. You control whether extensions are offered and the daily price. This is pure found revenue: days that used to be given away for free (or argued about at pickup) become a priced, customer-initiated request.

   You stay in control

   Requests land in the app for your approval (see the guide on approving early pickup and extension requests). Approving an extension moves the pickup date and records the extra days; nothing on the portal can modify an order directly.

   Why it is order-scoped on purpose

   There is no login portal to maintain and nothing for the customer to sign up for. The portal exists while there is an order to act on, which keeps it fast for homeowners and contractors alike. Commercial statements and multi-job views are on the roadmap.
