How to set up two-factor authentication in Dumpster Controls

Two-factor authentication (MFA) adds a second lock to your account using an authenticator app on your phone.

    Before you start

    • An authenticator app on your phone (the setup screen suggests "Google Authenticator, Authy, etc.").
    1. 1

      Start the setup

In the Account Center's "Security" tab, find the "Two-Factor Authentication" section. On the "Authenticator App" card ("Add an extra layer of security to your account."), click "Set up".

    2. 2

      Scan the QR code

The screen "Set up your authenticator app" shows a QR code: "Scan the QR code below with your app (Google Authenticator, Authy, etc.)". If you cannot scan, use the code under "Or enter manually:" instead.

    3. 3

      Confirm with a code

Type the 6-digit "Verification code" from your authenticator app and click "Activate MFA". A toast confirms "MFA activated!" with "Two-factor authentication has been configured successfully."

    What happens next

    • The card now shows "Active: your account is protected with MFA".
    • A "Trusted Devices" section appears in the Security tab. Checking "Remember this device" at login lets a device skip 2FA verification for a period.
    • To turn MFA off later, click "Disable" on the same card. A toast confirms "MFA disabled", and trusted devices are cleared so every login verifies again if you re-enable it.

    Troubleshooting

    I get "Invalid code".

Authenticator codes rotate every few seconds. Wait for a fresh code in the app and enter it before it expires.

    I closed the setup halfway.

Nothing is activated until you verify a code. Click "Set up" again to restart with a new QR code.
