The route map encodes two things at once: where each leg is heading (color) and whether the truck is carrying a dumpster (line style). The legend sits in the map's bottom corner.
Green is "Delivery", orange is "Pickup", brown is "Landfill", and black is "Back to HQ". Special stops draw in blue.
A solid line means the truck is carrying a dumpster (full or empty can). The legend states "Dashed: truck empty (no dumpster)", also called bobtail.
Each stop in the route list shows the truck's transition, for example "bobtail → full can" or "empty can → bobtail", so you can verify the sequence is physically possible.
Impossible sequences get warning notes: "Truck arrives with no can. Stop at HQ for an empty one?", "Truck still carries a can. Landfill or HQ first?", and "Size differs from the can on the truck". Fix them by reordering stops or adding a stop.
Stored full dumpsters add an "ST" point to the route ("Pick up stored dumpster") before the landfill leg, and the stop shows a "via storage" chip.
Faded legs lead to stops that are already completed. Bright legs are the remaining work.
