How to manage individual units and serial numbers in Dumpster Controls

Every physical can is a unit row with its own serial, status, condition, and notes. The Registered Inventory page is where you grow, shrink, and groom that list.

    1. 1

      Adjust quantity fast

Each size row has a stepper in the "Total" column. "+" registers a new unit with the next sequential serial; the minus button removes the newest available unit. Units in use cannot be removed ("Cannot remove": "The unit is currently in use.").

    2. 2

      Expand the units list

Click a size row to expand its units panel, showing the first units with columns "Serial #", "Status", "Condition", and "Notes". Click "View All" (or the "View all {n} units" link) to open the full "Summary of {size}" page.

    3. 3

      Read a unit's status

The status column shows whether the unit is free or working; a unit placed at a customer site also shows the linked "Order #" beneath its status, so serials connect directly to addresses.

    4. 4

      Edit serials and details

Click the serial (pencil icon) to open "Edit Serial Number" and rename a single unit. The row's other pencil ("Edit condition & notes") records the can's physical state and any note for the yard crew.

    5. 5

      Delete a unit

The trash icon opens a two-step guard: "Delete unit {serial}?" explains it reduces the registered total by one and cannot be undone, then "Confirm Permanent Deletion" requires "Delete Forever". Only available units can be deleted.

    What happens next

    • The table footer keeps the tally honest: "Showing X of Y sizes" and "Total fleet: N units", and the page header shows "Total Units" with a "Sizes Active" pill.

    Troubleshooting

I get "Permission denied" when deleting.

"You need admin access to delete inventory." Ask an admin to remove the unit.
