Dumpster Controls in Canada · updated 2026-08-10

How Canadian pricing and card fees work

The software is free. When a customer pays by card, the charge carries the Stripe Canada processing fee plus the Dumpster Controls fee, both itemized and deducted automatically at charge time.

    1. 1

      Know the two fees

Stripe Canada charges 2.9% + C$0.30 per domestic card transaction (international cards cost slightly more, per Stripe's public pricing). Dumpster Controls charges 0.5% + C$2.00 per transaction as an application fee. Example on a C$500 charge: roughly C$14.80 to Stripe and C$4.50 to Dumpster Controls; about C$480.70 lands in your Stripe balance.

    2. 2

Choose who pays the card fee

In your booking and invoice settings you choose the card fee handling: the customer pays the fee on top, your company absorbs it, or you split it 50/50. This works the same as for US companies, just calculated with the Canadian rates.

    3. 3

      See every fee in Finances

Your Finances page (in CAD) lists each transaction with the exact Dumpster Controls fee next to it, and your Stripe Dashboard shows the Stripe fee per charge. Nothing is hidden in an exchange rate because there is no exchange.

    What happens next

    • Full refunds return the Dumpster Controls fee to you automatically. See "How to refund a Canadian payment".
