How to import your existing rentals in Dumpster Controls

Already have dumpsters out in the field? Paste your spreadsheet and your active rentals appear on the board in minutes.

    Before you start

    • A spreadsheet (Excel or Google Sheets) with your active rentals: customer, address, and price.
    1. 1

      Open the importer

On the dashboard checklist, click "Already have rentals out? Import your spreadsheet". The page "Import your orders" opens. First time in, an intro card "Bring your current rentals in" offers "Show me an example".

    2. 2

      Paste your rows

Copy the rows straight from your spreadsheet, headers included, and paste them into the box. Recognized columns follow the pattern "name, phone, address, city, state, zip, date, price"; common header variations are matched automatically.

    3. 3

      Check the preview

The page validates line by line and reports "{count} rows ready" and, if needed, "{count} rows with issues (will be skipped)" with per-row reasons such as "missing name", "missing address", "invalid state", or "price out of range". Up to 200 rows import per batch.

    4. 4

      Import

Click "Import {count} orders". The done screen shows "{count} orders imported" and "All set. Your board now shows your real operation." Click "Open my board".

    What happens next

    • Imported orders arrive as active rentals waiting pickup, unpaid, with no charges created; nothing is billed automatically.
    • Your first real orders trigger the milestone celebrations, and the checklist step "Create your first order" turns green.

    Troubleshooting

    Some rows were skipped.

The done screen notes "{failed} rows could not be imported. You can add those manually." Fix the flagged fields in your sheet and paste those rows again, or create them by hand.
