How to use automatic payment reminders in Dumpster Controls

Auto-reminders chase unpaid invoices for you: daily emails and text messages for up to 10 consecutive days with increasing urgency, stopping the moment the invoice is paid.

Before you start

• An invoice sent with a payment link.

1. Enable reminders when sending

   In the "Send Payment Link" modal, leave the "Auto-Reminders (10 days)" toggle on. The helper text confirms: if unpaid, the customer will receive daily reminders via the selected channels (email and SMS) for 10 consecutive days with increasing urgency.

2. Or let extra-charge invoices enroll automatically

   When you send an extra charge as "Send Invoice & Payment Link", the 10-day reminder cycle starts automatically after the invoice goes out.

3. Nothing else to do

   Reminders start the next morning and repeat daily. Each reminder includes the invoice link so the customer can pay immediately.

What happens next

• Reminders stop automatically as soon as the invoice is paid.
• Customers who opted out of transactional notifications are not sent automatic reminders.

Troubleshooting

I do not want reminders for a specific invoice.

Turn the "Auto-Reminders (10 days)" toggle off before clicking "Send Payment Link". The helper text changes to "No automatic follow-up reminders will be sent."
