Scrap Metal is off by default. New companies choose it in the welcome dialog; existing companies switch it on in Settings. Turning it off only hides screens: nothing is deleted.
On your first sign-in the welcome dialog ("Welcome, {your name}", "Two things and the app looks like yours.") opens on "Step 1 of 2": "What do you do today?". It lists "Dumpster Rental", "Junk Removal" and "Scrap Metal" with a "Beta" pill. The first two start on. Switch on "Scrap Metal" ("Free pickups for the customer, paid by the metal") and click "Continue". Step 2 asks "What is your company called?". Both answers are saved together.
Open Settings (the Account Center), click the "Company" tab and scroll to "Business lines": "Turn off what your company does not do. This only cleans up your screens: nothing is deleted, and orders you already have stay exactly where they are." Flip the "Scrap Metal" switch on. It saves at once and a toast confirms "Scrap Metal is back on your screens". There is no Save button to press for this section.
Admins of accounts at least a week old see a "What's new" card in the notification bell: "New: Scrap Metal", "Scrap pickups with no charge to the customer. Turn it on to try it." Its "Turn on Scrap Metal" button jumps straight to the Business lines section and highlights it. The card goes away once the line is on, or when you click "Dismiss".
Flip the switch off in Settings, or hover the "Scrap Metal" KPI card on the Dashboard or Operations and click the hide icon ("Hide Scrap Metal from this screen"). A confirmation titled "Hide Scrap Metal?" spells out what goes away ("the Scrap Metal card on your Dashboard and Operations screens, and the option to create a new Scrap Metal order") and what does not ("your existing orders and jobs, Order History, Finances and reports, dispatch tasks and the driver app. Nothing is deleted."). Click "Hide it". The toast reads "Scrap Metal hidden" with "Turn it back on in Settings, Company, Business lines."
"At least one business line has to stay on." appears under the last active line, and its switch is locked. If scrap orders are still open when you turn the line off, the note "Turned off, but {n} are still open. The card stays on screen until they are finished." appears, and the card keeps showing until that work is done.
Only company admins see it, and it is hidden while you are in "View as customer". Ask an admin of the company to change it.
That is by design: the card stays until every open scrap order is finished. It shows "Off, {n} still open" and a "Turn back on" link if you change your mind.
