How to create a customer in Dumpster Controls

The "Create New Customer" modal builds a complete profile in one pass: pick the type, fill the contact and address, then the type-specific details.

## Open the form
Click "New Customer" on the Customers page. The modal opens with the prompt "Select a profile type and fill in the details."
## Pick a "Customer Profile"
Choose one of four cards: "Residential" ("Homeowner or resident. Each order is paid on its own, by card or as you receive it."), "Contractor" ("Contractor or trade professional. Each order is paid on its own, with company details on the invoice."), "Broker" ("Broker or intermediary. Billed on account: a periodic statement paid by check, transfer or ACH.") or "Commercial" ("Company billed on account: orders go on a periodic statement, paid by check, transfer or ACH."). The rest of the form appears after you pick.
## Fill "Contact Information"
"Full Name" is required. "Email" and "Phone" are optional but unlock invoice email, SMS, and review requests later.
## Enter the "Address"
"Street Address" is required. Start typing and pick a Google suggestion; "City", "State / Province", and "ZIP / Postal Code" fill in automatically. US and Canadian addresses are supported.
## Add "Company Details" for business types
Contractors, brokers and commercial customers must fill "Company Name" under "Company Details". Residential customers skip this section.
## Complete the type-specific section
Residential and Contractor details sit under "More details (optional)", which you can open or leave closed. Broker and Commercial customers are billed on account, so the "Commercial account details" section is always open, followed by "Job sites, prices and documents". ## Add notes and save
Under "Additional Info", the "Notes" box accepts anything relevant ("Add any relevant notes about this customer..."). Click "Save Customer"; the button reads "Saving..." while it writes.

What happens next

A toast confirms "Customer created" with "{name} added successfully.", and the new profile appears in the table as "Active" with transactional notifications on.
The name you typed is split into first and last name for the profile.

Troubleshooting

Saving does nothing and fields turn red.

Fix the validation messages: "Full name is required.", "Street address is required.", or "Company name is required." (contractor, broker and commercial).

I get "Error creating customer".

The save failed on the server; the toast shows the reason. Check your connection and try again.

Do you charge per driver, per truck or per order?

No. There is no per-driver, per-truck, per-user or per-order fee, and no order limit. A company with one truck and a company with twenty pay the same for the software: nothing.

Is there a contract?

No. There is no contract, no minimum term and no setup fee. You create the account yourself, and on the free plan there is nothing to cancel because nothing is billed. The optional $169 lower card rate plan is billed month to month.

Which countries and languages are supported?

Dumpster Controls serves hauling companies in the United States and Canada. The app interface and the Tresha AI assistant are available in English, Spanish and Portuguese. The public pages, such as the blog, the help center and the landfill finder, are in English.

How do I switch from another dumpster software?

Create a free account at dumpstercontrols.io/login, with no sales call and no credit card. Then import your customers from a CSV file using the template provided in the app; past orders can also be imported from a CSV. Container sizes and pricing are set up in Settings. The landfill database, with 1,750 active US and Canadian landfills as counted on 2026-10-01, is already loaded, so disposal sites do not need to be typed in.
