How to unassign a task back to the pool in Dumpster Controls

When a driver's day changes, send stops back to "Unassigned Tasks" so they can be re-planned.

    1. 1

      Option 1: drag it out

On desktop, drag the card from the driver's lane back onto the "Unassigned Tasks" panel and drop it.

    2. 2

Option 2: use the details drawer

Open the card and click the "Unassign" button under "Task Actions". A toast confirms "Task unassigned".

    3. 3

Option 3: use the assign sheet

Click the card's "Assign" button and choose "Unassign (back to pool)" at the bottom of the "Assign to…" sheet.

    What happens next

    • The task returns to "Pending" status and shows in the pool under its date section ("Ready for this day", "Scheduled ahead", or "Late").
    • The action is recorded in the audit log with who unassigned it.

    Troubleshooting

    Unassign is blocked.

In route tasks cannot be unassigned; you will see "Task is in progress, cannot reassign". Completed tasks are read-only.
