How to read the net profit dashboard in Dumpster Controls

The Finances dashboard is built around one hero number: your net profit for the selected period. Everything else on the page explains where that number comes from.

Before you start

  1. Start with the hero

The big number under "Net profit" is what you actually kept in the period: Received money minus Expenses. The line below spells it out, for example "Received $12,000 · Expenses $4,500". On the right, a pill shows the percentage change versus the previous period and another shows your profit margin, such as "32.5% margin".

  2. Scan the four tiles

"Received" is money collected in the period. "Invoiced" is what you billed. "Unpaid" is billed but not collected, and the tile turns amber whenever it is above zero. "Expenses" is job costs plus general company expenses. Each tile shows the "Previous" period value and an up or down change badge; for Unpaid and Expenses, down is good.

  3. Check the gauges and the trend

The "Truck gauges" card reads the same money as analog dials (see the truck gauges article), and the "Trend" chart shows 6 months of Revenue, Profit, or Expenses.

  4. Finish with the right rail

The "Cash flow" card shows your Available balance and Next deposit, and clicks through to the Your Money page. The "Accounts receivable" card lists your top unpaid customers with a "Total unpaid" line and a "See all" link to Order History.

Troubleshooting

A tile shows a multiplier like "3.2x" instead of a percentage.

When the previous period was very small, a percentage change would be misleadingly huge, so the app shows how many times bigger the value is instead.
