How to record a landfill cost in Dumpster Controls

Landfill is usually the biggest direct cost of a haul, and the app watches for it: completed orders without a landfill cost are flagged "No landfill cost" and marked for review in Orders P&L.

    Before you start

    • A completed or in-progress order.
    1. 1

Add it as an order cost

Open the order in the Orders P&L drawer, click "Add Cost", keep the "Cost Type" as landfill, enter the "Amount ($)" you paid the landfill, and optionally the vendor (e.g. City Landfill). Click "Add Cost".

    2. 2

Or log it during an overweight charge

When you bill an overweight fee through "Charge Extra Fee", the overweight section includes an "Internal landfill cost" field: what you paid the landfill, saved to Expenses and never charged to the customer.

    3. 3

See it in the profit breakdown

The recorded amount shows up in the drawer's "Costs" section as "Landfill Ticket" (or as a landfill cost row), in the Profit Intelligence card's cost breakdown under "Landfill", and inside the dashboard's Expenses number.

    What happens next

    • The "No landfill cost" flag clears and the order's confidence can move up to "Verified".
    • Landfill amounts are never double counted: the app keeps the landfill ticket and landfill cost rows in sync.
