How to understand team roles in Dumpster Controls

Every person on your account has a role that defines what they can do. This guide explains the office roles, the driver role, and the combo of both.

    1. 1

      Know the three office roles

"Admin": "Full access to office tools." "Supervisor": "Can manage dispatch and drivers, limited settings." "Dispatcher": "Can schedule orders and assign trucks/drivers." These descriptions appear on the role cards whenever you create or edit a user.

    2. 2

      Know what office users share

As the explainer on the Admin Users page puts it, office users "can manage customers, orders, invoices, trucks, and drivers depending on the role you choose." They all work in the web dashboard.

    3. 3

      Know the Driver role

Drivers are field users. They log into the Dumpster Controls Driver app on their phone to receive tasks, run routes, and upload proof photos and landfill receipts. When a driver-only user signs in on a regular web browser, they are pointed to the app download page instead of the office dashboard.

    4. 4

      Combine office and driver

For small companies where the owner or a dispatcher also drives, mark the office user "Also a Driver" ("Turn this on if they also do deliveries or pickups."). They keep office access and also appear in the Drivers list for route assignment.

    5. 5

      Know the management rules

Only Admins can create, edit, or remove office users. Drivers can be created by Admins and Supervisors. Roles have fixed permissions; there is no custom per-module permission editor.

    What happens next

    • Pick the smallest role that covers the person's job. You can upgrade or downgrade the role later from the edit form without recreating the user.
