What is the best dumpster rental software for your business?
Five platforms, published prices with sources, and why Dumpster Controls comes out ahead for a hauler running its own trucks.

The short answer
- For most independent haulers: Dumpster Controls. The core stack is there and the software is $0 at any fleet size, with no per-truck, per-user or per-driver component.
- Three things with no published equivalent from the other four as of 2026-08-23: a public API with an open OpenAPI spec, a marketplace that moves whole jobs between haulers with no fee, and a national landfill database with verified tipping fees, released as open data.

Most software comparisons in this category are written to reach a conclusion the author picked before the research. This one is too, in the sense that we sell one of the five products.
The difference we can offer is the part most comparisons leave out: every price and capability we attribute to a competitor comes from the competitor's own page, with the date we read it. If you only read two sections, make them the price table and the fit table further down. The first shows what each vendor charges; the second matches eight common buying situations to what each one needs.
How this was evaluated
Four rules, applied to every vendor including us. First, a price only appears if the vendor publishes it or a named publication reported it. Second, a capability only appears if the vendor documents it; if we could not find it, the page says we could not find it.
Third, an announced feature is never counted as a shipped one. Fourth, no anonymous customer quotes, from anyone, about anyone.
That last rule cost this page three testimonials it used to carry. They read well and we could not verify them, so they are gone.

A five-driver company is the clearest way to feel the spread. On CurbWaste's reported rate that company pays roughly $15,000 to $18,000 a year for software. On iCANS Plus it pays $1,908, and on DRS Standard, $2,351.

One clarification we owe you, because it is the number that works against us: our free plan charges 2.99% plus $3.99 per card transaction, against the 30 cents a normal processor charges. On a $450 invoice that is $3.69 more.
Past roughly 46 card payments a month, our optional $169 Unlimited plan at 2.99% plus $0.30 becomes cheaper, and at that point you are comparing $169 against a competitor's subscription rather than against free. If your customers mostly pay by cash or check, none of this reaches you.
Where Dumpster Controls wins, checkably
Four things, each of which you can verify without creating an account.
Price
$0 for the software at any fleet size, with no per-truck or per-user component and no order cap. The month you buy your twenty-first container, nothing happens to your bill.
An assistant that executes work
Tresha creates orders, completes deliveries, pickups and landfill runs with photos and AI-read dump tickets, and answers questions about your live data, by chat or two-way voice, in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
Open disposal data
A national database of 2,911 landfills and transfer stations, published as open data under CC BY 4.0, with verified tipping fees carrying the operator's rate sheet as the source.
A marketplace between haulers
The Dumpster Net Hub moves whole jobs between companies with no listing fee and no percentage cut, so the hauler who completes the work receives the full asking amount.
On the assistant: every action runs under your own login and waits for a tap on a confirmation card. As of 2026-08-23 we found no other dumpster platform publicly documenting an assistant that both answers from live data and executes operations in the same conversation; if you know of one, tell us and this page gets corrected with a date. On disposal data: the cost flows into per-order profit and loss, so the question becomes what the rental made after the landfill, not whether the invoice was paid. On the marketplace: we found no equivalent transactional marketplace documented by the other four.

What stopped being a differentiator in dumpster software
Five years ago a vendor could win a deal by having online booking at all. In 2026 the following are documented across most serious platforms in this category, ours included: online ordering, customer management, dispatch with a map, route building, container tracking, an iOS and Android driver app with photos, invoicing, card payments, text notifications and a QuickBooks Online integration.
If a comparison is built on that list, it cannot help you, and that includes the earlier version of this page. What separates the platforms now sits one layer up: route optimization, AI, disposal economics, interoperability, networks between companies, and the business model. The truth about free trials in this category
Ask one question: can I create an account right now, without talking to a salesperson, and dispatch a real order today?
With Dumpster Controls the answer is yes, and there is no clock, because free is the plan rather than a trial. iCANS publishes a seven-day trial that requires no card and is limited to Base features.
As of 2026-08-23, Docket, CurbWaste and DRS route to a booked demo on their public pages, and we found no published self-serve signup for any of the three. That describes what their websites show. It is not a claim about what a salesperson would offer you on a call.

What each competitor offers
iCANS: accounting and the customer portal
At $99 per month for Base and $159 for Plus, with unlimited drivers and orders on both, iCANS documents a two-way real-time QuickBooks Online sync covering clients, invoices, payments, refunds and voids, plus a sales tax report, on the cheaper plan. An edit made inside QuickBooks flows back into their system; in ours it does not, and that is an engineering decision rather than a missing feature.
Automatic bidirectional writes on money are where duplicated payments and silently overwritten invoices come from, so we keep the operating system as the single source of truth and let QuickBooks receive rather than overwrite. On scope the comparison runs the other way: we also export company expenses and per-order costs, fuel, maintenance, insurance, landfill dump fees and labor, as Purchases with vendors, and iCANS does not publish expense export to QuickBooks at all.
There is also a way to settle it without trusting either of us. Our integration is documented in ten public articles before signup, including a data mapping reference, the sync engine architecture, the security model and a page on edge cases that names accountant edits; counted on 2026-08-24 the entire public iCANS site is 21 URLs and we found no product documentation at all.

Docket: recurring routes and route optimization
Founded in Dayton, Ohio in 2019 and part of ServiceCore of Denver since May 2023, Docket rebranded to Docket Waste Software in March 2026 and added commercial front-load and residential curbside routes.
It also ships IronRouteAI, a route optimizer released publicly at the end of 2025 that weighs fuel cost per mile per truck, driver wages and overtime thresholds, landfill dump fees by location and material, wear and tear, bin and truck compatibility, material acceptance limits, priority time windows and live inventory, optimizing for net profitability rather than the shortest route. CurbWaste: the scale house
Venture funded with $50 million raised including a $28 million Series B in October 2025, CurbWaste covers roll-off, commercial and residential, and also sells CurbPOS, a point of sale for transfer stations and scale houses handling gross and tare weights, dump tickets and facility reporting. Its reported price is $250 to $300 per driver per month plus an initiation fee. Full comparison.
DRS: back-office depth and assisted onboarding
DRS documents nine payment terms from COD through Net90, per-customer custom pricing, contractor and homeowner schedule profiles, travel fees by distance band or by city and ZIP, service areas, availability rulesets, booking restrictions, batch and combined invoicing, cards on file, contracts with signatures, and a driver app that also handles clock-in and clock-out.
It states onboarding of up to thirty days, adding that many operators transition in under a week, and it sells web design, SEO and marketing services. Full comparison.
The qualifier, from their own pages: the $79.95 Launch plan is labeled NO ROUTING, and their knowledge base states the QuickBooks integration is available on all plans except Launch. So the practical entry price for a company that dispatches and syncs its books is $195.95.
Switching costs, honestly
Moving platforms is not free even when the software is. Budget for exporting your customer list and active rentals, re-entering container inventory and pricing, retraining dispatchers and drivers, reconnecting QuickBooks, and updating the booking link on your website and ads.
A one-truck operator can do that in an afternoon. A company with hundreds of active rentals, contractor pricing rules and an accountant should plan a week.

For an independent roll-off or junk removal company running its own trucks, we think Dumpster Controls is the right choice in 2026, and the argument is not that we have more features than everyone. It is that the core operating stack is now comparable across platforms, and once that is true the remaining questions are what you pay, whether the system can be operated by voice from a truck, whether disposal cost is connected to job profit, and whether other haulers are reachable from inside the software.
