Waste management billing software is the billing software for a hauling company: it writes the invoice when the order is created, sends it by email and SMS with a payment link, collects by card, card on file, card by phone, cash or check, chases it with reminders for 10 days and bills the extras that show up after the job, overweight first. In Dumpster Controls every part of that is included free for any fleet size; the only optional cost is card processing when a customer pays by card. The screen at the top of this page is the real one, running on sample data.

The invoice a hauler loses money on is the one written three weeks after the job, from memory, without the overweight ticket. This software exists to make that invoice impossible: the invoice is written the moment the order is created, the landfill receipt reaches the order from the driver's photo, and the extra charge is computed from the weight on that receipt.

Creating an order writes its invoice, sends it, schedules the reminders and puts the delivery and pickup on the Dispatch board, in one step. When the customer books online, the price is on the screen before they pay, tax and processing fee included, and the card is stored for the charges that come later.

Charge Extra Fee, on any order in Order History, bills what showed up after the fact. The overweight section reads the recorded net weight and fills in the tons over, the rate per ton and the included tons from the order.

Overweight Fee, Dumpster Damage, Trip Charge, Unsafe Load, Landfill Cost, Fuel Cost, Maintenance, Permit Fee, Toll Fee or Other Cost, each with its own maximum.

Overweight computed, not typed

The breakdown card shows contracted weight, actual weight, excess, rate, subtotal and total to charge. The description is generated from the weight data.

Evidence attached

A description of at least 20 characters, up to three photos, and the landfill receipts already on the order attach themselves.

How we make money: only when you opt in, and the numbers are public. The software is free with unlimited orders and no per-order software fee. If you choose to collect a customer’s card payment through Dumpster Controls, the processing fee is 2.99% + $3.99 per card transaction on the free plan, or 2.99% + $0.30 (the standard Stripe rate) on the optional $169/month Unlimited plan. Take payment by cash, check, Zelle or any other way and you pay nothing at all. Beyond that, our revenue comes from the optional Unlimited plan and from equipment partners and sponsors advertising in the app and on our public directory; our marketplace, the Dumpster Net Hub, charges zero marketplace fees. Run your own business your way and you never pay to use the software. It’s the only model that lets a 1-truck owner-operator run on the same software as a 50-truck fleet.

Contractors and brokers: net terms and one payment for many jobs

A contractor or broker profile carries the fields their accounts payable department asks for. When the same customer has several unpaid invoices, the Customers page offers to consolidate them into one Super Invoice with a single payment link.

The accountant's side: QuickBooks Online, one way

Customers, invoices, payments, refunds and expenses export from Dumpster Controls into QuickBooks Online. The direction is one way by design: nothing the accountant does in QuickBooks is written back, so there is no fight over which system is right.
