Search for waste management software and the first results are enterprise suites: AMCS and Routeware, built for municipal collection and large commercial fleets, with residential routes, scale tickets and contract billing for a city. That is a real market, and it is not the one this page is about. Two markets that share one search term
The difference is the unit of work. A municipal system plans a truck that stops at hundreds of houses on a route and is paid by a contract; the software lives on the route and the scale. An independent hauler plans a truck that makes a short list of stops a day, each one an order for a named customer with a price and a landfill run at the end; the software lives on the order. What the software manages, for a hauler
The day starts on the Operations page, with counters for Deliveries, Pickups, Landfill Runs and Junk Removal split into today, late and tomorrow. Then Dispatch: an Unassigned Tasks pool on the left and one lane per driver, with a drag to assign, a push and a text to the driver, and a Map panel that draws each route with legs colored by destination, green for delivery, orange for pickup, brown for landfill, solid where the truck carries a can and dashed where it runs empty. The dispatch side has its own page at waste management dispatch software.
Drivers work from the iOS and Android app, or from a tablet mounted in the cab in Truck Tablet Mode, which any driver signs into with a 4 digit PIN and which keeps working without signal. A delivery is On My Way, I've Arrived, a stamped photo and a slide to complete. A landfill run ends with a photo of the receipt, from which the app reads the net weight and the cost, so the disposal cost reaches the order without anyone typing it. If the weight beats the included allowance, the order raises an Overweight Alert with a suggested fee, and you waive it or bill it.
The month closes in Finances: net profit as the first number, then Received, Invoiced, Unpaid and Expenses against the previous period, and Orders P&L with revenue, fees, costs, profit and margin per order. The bank feed connects through Stripe Financial Connections or a statement PDF, and customers, invoices, payments and refunds export one way into QuickBooks Online.
