Waste management dispatch software

A dispatcher at a roll-off company makes the same decision for every order of the day: which driver takes this stop, and in what order. Waste management dispatch software is the screen where that decision is made and, more important, where it is written down, so the driver, the office and the customer are working from the same plan. In Dumpster Controls that screen is the Dispatch board, it is on the free plan, and it runs deliveries, pickups, swaps, landfill runs, junk removal jobs and scrap pickups for 370+ hauling companies (counted 2026-09-23, test accounts excluded). It does not plan residential curbside collection routes; the stops it dispatches are orders for named customers.

The board, left to right

The top bar has the date navigator, an Add Special Stop button, a Map toggle and a search box for order, customer or address. A strip under it shows total, assigned and unassigned counts, and when future days already have assigned work, Upcoming chips appear so you can jump to that date. The left panel is the Unassigned Tasks pool, filtered by All, Deliveries, Pickups, Landfill and Junk, and grouped under Late, Ready for this day, Scheduled ahead, and Stored, waiting landfill. To the right, one lane per driver.

Assigning, three ways, and what the driver gets

Drag a card into a lane, click Assign and pick a driver from the sheet, or open the task's details and assign or reassign from there. Whichever way, the driver's app gets a push notification with the address and the driver gets a text. Unassigning is a drag back to the pool. Reordering is a drag inside the lane, and a driver can reorder their own stops from the app; when they do, the board shows a Reordered by toast with their name. A Saving chip appears at the bottom of the screen while any change is written to the server, and every change by a driver or another dispatcher appears without a refresh.

The map: color for destination, line for what the truck carries

Click a driver's block and the Map panel opens on that route. Legs are drawn as curved arrows: green is Delivery, orange is Pickup, brown is Landfill, blue is a special stop, and a thin Back to yard line closes the day. A solid line means the truck is carrying a can, full or empty; a dashed line means it is driving empty, which drivers call bobtail. Each stop in the list shows the truck's transition, for example bobtail to full can, and an impossible sequence gets a warning note: "Truck arrives with no can. Stop at HQ for an empty one?" or "Truck still carries a can. Landfill or HQ first?". Stored full dumpsters add an ST point before the landfill leg.

The purple AI Routes button reorders a driver's remaining stops for the shortest day, checked against that same truck cycle: empty, carrying a full can, carrying an empty can, swaps, stored dumpsters and landfill runs. It works for today only and needs at least two stops that can still move. The preview says what it assumed about the truck at the start of the day and where that came from, shows the new order as purple arrows with renumbered pins, and changes nothing until you click Apply. Junk jobs and scrap pickups on the same board

Junk removal jobs share the board with dumpster tasks. They carry a blue JUNK REMOVAL badge, a J-prefixed job number and a load fraction chip such as 1/2 Load instead of a size, add a Junk tab to the pool while any are unassigned, slot into the driver's sequence like any other stop, count toward the day estimate, and draw with a J marker on the map. Scrap metal pickups, when the module is on, dispatch the same way, with or without a container drop. One screen runs the whole day of a company that does all three; the junk side is at software for junk removal.

Dispatch software for sanitation companies

Sanitation is the word on the permit in many states, and a sanitation company that runs containers will find the board fits its day: a landfill destination set per task, a full dumpster stored for later when the landfill is closed, a task completed from Dispatch when a driver forgot, and a Trucks page where a tablet mounted in the cab is paired so any driver signs into it with a PIN. What the board does not do is residential curbside collection, and this page will not pretend otherwise.
