A hauler's customer list is usually three lists: the phone's contacts, the invoicing tool's customers, and the spreadsheet the owner keeps for the contractors who pay on Net 30. Waste management CRM, the way Dumpster Controls builds it, is one list that the rest of the system writes to. The booking page creates the customer, the order adds to their history, the payment updates their lifetime value, the driver's photo lands on their order, and the review request goes out from the same record. 370+ hauling companies keep their customers in it today (counted 2026-09-23, test accounts excluded), on the free plan.
The Customers page, read in one look
Four cards at the top: Total Customers, Active Rentals, Revenue This Month and Contractors. Below them the list, with Name and email, Type, Company, Phone, Lifetime Value, Orders and Status. The type icon is a house for residential, a hard hat for contractor and a building for broker. The arrow on a row expands the customer's orders and, when they have several unpaid invoices, offers to consolidate them into one payment; clicking the row opens the customer drawer with the profile, the orders, the invoices and the estimates. An Estimates button between the header and the cards shows how many quotes are open. Search, filter and sort work on every column.
Three kinds of customer, three sets of fields
The profile type is chosen when the customer is created and cannot be changed later, because each type stores different things. Full Name and Street Address are required, with Google filling in city, state or province and postal code for US and Canadian addresses; Email and Phone are optional but they are what make invoice email, SMS and review requests possible later.

Leads: the chat bubble and the API
Two doors bring prospects in before they are customers. The booking page has a chat bubble; the visitor enters a name and email and starts typing, the conversation lands in your Messages inbox, and your reply shows live on their screen. You keep the name and email even if they never finish the booking. The second door is the public API: POST /v1/leads takes a name and, optionally, phone, email, address, size and a note, from your website form, a GoHighLevel funnel or an ad landing page, and the lead appears in the Customers screen under Leads to be converted with one click. A duplicate pushed within ten minutes returns the existing lead instead of a second one. The free plan allows 200 leads a day.
Free means free. Forever.
Customers, leads, estimates, per-customer notifications, consolidated invoices and review requests are all on the free plan, with unlimited SMS and email.
How we make money: only when you opt in, and the numbers are public. The software is 100% free with unlimited orders and no per-order software fee. If you choose to collect a customer’s card payment through Dumpster Controls, the processing fee is 2.99% + $3.99 per card transaction on the free plan, or 2.99% + $0.30 (the standard Stripe rate) on the optional $169/month Unlimited plan. Take payment by cash, check, Zelle or any other way and you pay nothing at all. Beyond that, our revenue comes from the optional Unlimited plan and from equipment partners and sponsors advertising in the app and on our public directory; our marketplace, the Dumpster Net Hub, charges zero marketplace fees. Run your own business your way and you never pay to use the software. It’s the only model that lets a 1-truck owner-operator run on the same software as a 50-truck fleet.
Customer management for haulers, after the first order
What a CRM has to do after the sale is mostly about not annoying the people who pay you. Transactional notifications are controlled per customer: a contractor with nine cans on three sites can have the status texts switched off while invoices, receipts and payment links keep arriving. Estimates are managed from the same page. A customer with several unpaid invoices gets one consolidated Super Invoice with a single payment link, and you decide whether the company absorbs the card fee. Every order the customer ever placed, with its photos and timeline, is one click from their row, which is what answers the "you never picked it up" call a month later.

The review request, from the record
When the pickup is done, one click from the order or the Customers page opens Ask for a Google review: your message, your Google review link, and two toggles, email and text. It goes out on the customer's channels and is recorded on the order. The customer profile is what makes it work: no email and no phone, no review request, which is why the create form says so up front.
What the CRM costs, and where the rest lives
Nothing per month, per user or per customer, at any fleet size; the only optional cost is card processing when a customer pays online, on the pricing page. The dumpster-specific version of this page is dumpster rental CRM. The customer record feeds the dispatch board, the billing side and, for junk work, software for junk removal. The product overview is dumpster rental software, the buyer's guide is software for dumpster companies, and every vendor's published price is on dumpster rental software cost.
