    Customers

Your customer base in one place: profiles for homeowners, contractors, and brokers, with every order, invoice, and estimate attached.

The Customers page is the CRM of Dumpster Controls. Four metric cards summarize the base at a glance: "Total Customers", "Active Rentals", "Revenue This Month", and "Contractors". Below them, the customer table shows every person or company you serve, with their type, company, phone, "Lifetime Value", order count, and "Active" or "Inactive" status.

Every customer has a profile type chosen at creation: "Residential" for homeowners, "Contractor" for construction companies, and "Broker" for intermediaries. Each type unlocks its own fields, from gate codes and HOA flags on residential accounts to net terms, credit limits, PO requirements, and W9 uploads on commercial ones.

Clicking a customer row opens a full profile drawer with six tabs: "Overview", "Details", "Orders", "Invoices", "Estimates", and "Activity". From there you can edit any field, call the customer, send an open invoice, review their complete order history with P&L, and control whether they receive automatic status notifications.

The page also works as a billing launchpad. An "Estimates" panel at the top tracks accepted, pending, and canceled estimates, and expanding a customer row lists their orders so you can select unpaid invoices and consolidate them into a single Super Invoice. From any order you can also send the customer a Google review request by email or SMS.

    Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between "Residential", "Contractor", and "Broker" customers?

The type sets which fields the profile carries. "Residential" is an individual homeowner or property resident, with fields like "Property Type", "Gate Code", "Preferred Contact", and "HOA Community". "Contractor" is a construction company or trade professional, adding "License Number", "EIN", "Net Terms", "Credit Limit", "PO Required", and document uploads. "Broker" is an intermediary managing multiple projects, adding "Broker License Number", "Commission %", "Default Markup %", and "Billing Model". Contractors and brokers also require a "Company Name".

What does the amber "Consolidate {n} unpaid" pill on a customer row mean?

That customer has two or more unpaid invoices that can be merged into one payment. Click the pill (or the arrow at the start of the row) to expand their orders, select the unpaid invoices, and click "Consolidate into Super Invoice". The full consolidation flow is covered in the Invoicing & Payments manual.

    Can I delete a customer?

There is no delete button on the Customers page. Instead, mark the customer inactive: open their profile, go to "Details", click "Edit", turn off the "Active" switch, and click "Save Changes". Inactive customers keep their history and can be found with the status filter set to "Inactive".

Why did some rows get skipped during a CSV import?

Three reasons. Rows with errors ("First name is required" or "Invalid email format") are never imported and count as "Failed". Rows whose email already exists on one of your customers are skipped and counted as "Duplicates". Rows with only warnings, such as "Email is empty" or an unknown customer type (which defaults to residential), still import normally.

What stops when I turn off "Receive transactional notifications" for a customer?

As the toggle explains: "When off, this customer won't receive automatic order status updates (on the way, delivered, picked up) or recurring payment reminders. Invoices, payment links and receipts are still sent." It is per customer, so everyone else keeps getting updates.

A customer accepted an estimate. Where do I see it?

The "Estimates" panel at the top of the Customers page shows a pulsing "new" badge when an accepted estimate is waiting for you. Expand the panel, find the row with the "Accepted" status, and click "Acknowledge" once you have acted on it; the row then shows "Done". Each customer's profile drawer also has an "Estimates" tab listing their own estimates.
