Module guide

    Inventory & Containers

Register every dumpster you own, price it by rental duration, and run the daily flow of deliveries, pickups, and landfill runs from one screen.

The module has two homes in the sidebar. "Operations" is the daily board: it tracks every active order through its physical lifecycle with four cards at the top, "Deliveries", "Pickups", "Landfill Runs", and "Junk Removal", each showing live counts with small "today", "late", and "tmrw" counters. "Inventory" (the "Registered Inventory" page) is the fleet registry: your dumpster sizes, prices, fees, photos, and every individual unit with its own serial number.

Orders move through three waiting states that match what happens on the street: "Waiting Delivery" (an empty can needs to go out), "Waiting Pickup" (the can is at the customer site), and "Waiting Landfill" (the full can needs disposal). Each state has its own tab with search, filters, CSV export, and a details drawer where you assign drivers, edit dates, and confirm each step manually if a driver forgot.

Every physical dumpster can be registered as a unit with a serial number like 20YD-01. When a delivery is confirmed, you can pick exactly which unit went out, by dropdown or by scanning the QR sticker on the can, so the order card, the dispatch board, and the driver app all show which container sits at which address.

Registering a size takes one wizard: choose the yardage, say how many you own, upload a photo, and set prices for 24 hours, 3, 7, 14, and 30 days plus additional daily charges, weight limits with per-ton overage, and extra fees. Those numbers feed online booking, new orders, and invoices automatically.

    Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the "Operations" page and the "Inventory" page?

"Operations" tracks orders in motion: everything waiting for delivery, pickup, or a landfill run, plus junk removal jobs. "Inventory" (titled "Registered Inventory") is the registry of what you own: dumpster sizes, prices, fees, and the individual units with serial numbers. You plan the day on Operations and you manage the fleet on Inventory.

What do the "Late", "Ready", and "Scheduled" statuses mean on order rows?

They are computed automatically from the order's date, so you never set them by hand. "Late" (red) means the delivery or pickup date has passed and the step is not done. "Ready" (green) means it is due today. "Scheduled" means the date is still in the future. The filter chips at the top ("Total", "Late", "Today", "Tomorrow", "Next Week") slice the list by the same logic.

Do I have to pick a dumpster unit when I confirm a delivery?

No. The "Dumpster Number" field in the confirmation form is marked "Optional". If you do pick a unit (from the dropdown or by scanning its QR sticker), the serial number follows the order everywhere: on the order cards, in dispatch, and in the driver app. If the size has no registered units, the form accepts a free-typed label instead.

What is the "Stored Full Dumpsters" section on the Landfill tab?

It lists full dumpsters that drivers parked at a yard instead of driving straight to the landfill. Each row shows the storage address (labeled "Stored location"), the unit label, and how long ago it was stored. Picking a driver in the "Assign Driver" dropdown creates a landfill task for that dumpster and sends the driver a "Landfill Pickup Assigned" notification.

Why can't I remove a unit or delete a size?

Units that are currently on an order cannot be deleted; you will see "Cannot remove" with "The unit is currently in use." Deleting a whole size is blocked the same way when any of its units are in use. Deletion also requires admin access; otherwise you get "Permission denied". Free up the units first (complete or reassign their orders), then delete.

Can I see where my dumpsters are on a map?

Each order row and drawer carries the full delivery address, and when a unit was selected at delivery the card shows its serial number, so you know which can sits at which address. For a live picture, use the Dispatch board: its "Map" panel and per-driver "View route" view plot every delivery, pickup, and landfill stop on Google Maps.
